My work is based in the theoretical field of the Humanist Psychology. This movement was born about the 50s, in opposition to the Psychologic approach of the moment based on the study of the psycopathology and the scientific methodology for the the human being behaviour . The human behaviour was an answer opposite to stimuli so the approach was mechanicist.
The new approach took into consideration other human aspects which were not considered before.
From the very beginning this new born approach was in opposition to this mecanicist approach and emphasizing human aspects that up to this moment had not been fully taken in consideration.
Maslow ´s(1954) opinion about the movement is: " there are people who are interested in the scientific study of creativity, love, top values, autonomy, inner development, self, the gratification the human needs, etc. "
Other prominent figures were Fromm, Pearls, Rogers , Allport, Berne .
The humanist psychology nourished both of western and eastern philosophy (zen o, yoga, meditation, etc.) supporting any change and ready to accept the intercultural enrichment. Likewise, the most important characteristics of this branch of the psychology, is that it takes the personal growth as a goal of the psychotherapy and the development of creativity in life as one of most important points.
We can define the personal growth as " the process by which there is achieved the development of the singular and unrepeatable set of potentials of the whole human being, in harmony with an existential flexible project chosen in lucid, free and nutritious form in conformity with the nuclear values of the person, and opened to the possibility of a reality transindividual or transpersonal " (Gimeno - Bayón, Rosal 2001).
The therapeutic aim is not to suppress a symptom, but the person can rebuilt his/her reality in a creative way. Through that rebuilding he /she has a wider objective vision showing different options to re structure the system and have a new approach of reality.
Integrated Humanistic Psychology works with technical and theoretical elements of different trends achieving a perfect joint that helps to extend the resources in the treatment.
These Trends are: Gestalt, The Transactional Analysis, Personel Therapy, Psychodrama, Existencialism, etc.
This therapy works in every patient individually fulfilling his/her needs with its richness .-
